Fresno residents face multi-day blackout, over $100,000 in spoiled food
Over 1,000 residents in Fresno’s Tower District and southeast area are facing a multi-day power outage following storms, with PG&E scheduling restoration for Saturday, Oct. 14 at 12 p.m. Fresno residents are facing a multi-day blackout due to a PG&E outage, which has been extended from 24 to 72 hours. The outage, part of a series of storm-related blackouts that cut power to thousands across the city, has led to over $100,000 in spoiled food and inconvenience. Customers, like Ron Montoya, were told power would be restored by 3 p.m. the following day but no work was being done on the damaged power pole outside his house. PG&e issued another message to customers stating that power would return until Saturday, Oct. 14 at 12 p.am. The company attributed the delay to the sheer number of outages. Those receiving CalFresh can apply for replacement benefits at the Fresno County Social Services Office.
