A release party was held for a peacock who has finally recovered after being shot with an arrow last month in Exeter.

Video was sent in near the end of February showing a peacock walking around with an arrow sticking out of it.

Residents rallied together and offered an award to find the person who shot the bird.

Other anonymous viewers called into out station to say they live in the area and find the animals a nuisance.

According to California Penal Code 597, it is a crime to torture, wound, or kill a living animal intentionally.

After FOX26 aired the story, the bird was carefully trapped and taken to Tulare County Animal Services to remove the arrow.

The bird was named “Cupid” and fully recovered.

On Thursday March 28, the bird was finally released and immediately found a fellow peacock.

Residents in the area held a release party filled with themed decorations, temporary tattoos, and even a peacock cake.
