Parlier residents face high water bills city debates meter fix
People living in Parlier say they're facing water bills in the thousands. The mayor said a new purchase could be a solution. Parlier residents are facing high water bills in the thousands due to malfunctioning water meters and transmitters. Mayor Alma Beltran believes a new purchase could resolve the problem, but four city council members are not attending to vote, which she believes could be politically motivated. The city needs council approval to purchase the transmitters, which costs $445,000. However, four council members, Diego Garza, Kathy Solorio, Sabrina Rodriguez, and Janie Molina, have missed two consecutive meetings where the issue was supposed to be heard. Beltran said the absences are personal and stem from disagreements with the council.
