Delta announces nonstop flights from Fresno to Atlanta, the busiest airport in the U.S.

The Valley's largest airport is expanding to the busiest airport in the U.S. Delta Air Lines has announced daily nonstop flights from Fresno Yosemite International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airport in the U.S. The new route offers passengers more convenient travel options and seamless connectivity, according to airport officials. The airline will operate the Atlanta route using the Boeing 737-800 aircraft and will schedule one-day business trips or multi-day stays. The service will provide California's Central Valley residents with faster and easier access to busy metropolitan areas on the East Coast, Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean, popular European destinations, and Africa.

If you procrastinated your summer trip, a new flight out of Fresno might be just the key to saving summer.

Delta Air Lines announced daily nonstop flights between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and the busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

" (The route) offers passengers more convenient travel options and seamless connectivity," airport officials stated in a release Friday. "A major global gateway, service through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will provide California’s Central Valley residents with faster and easier access to busy metropolitan areas on the East Coast and sunny beaches in Florida as well as Latin America and the Caribbean, popular European destinations, and to Africa."

Fresno's main airport is already expanding its footprint. Mayor Jerry Dyer said the new flight schedule creates new opportunities.

“We are extremely pleased with Delta Air Lines’ launch of new air service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and its timeliness with the busy summer travel season,” Dyer said.

Nonstop flights to Atlanta increase Fresno’s visibility, airport officials said. They hope it labels Fresno as an attractive and progressive city with air service to major air transportation hubs.

"By delivering more ways to access sought-after destinations throughout the U.S. West, we’re more ready than ever to take our customers on their next great adventures – with the service,reliability and convenience they’ve come to know and expect when flying Delta," said Joe Esposito, senior vice president of network planning.

Delta Air Lines will operate the Atlanta route using the Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a schedule timed to accommodate one-day business trips or a multi-day stays. The Atlanta-bound flight departs at 10:30 p.m. and arrives at 5:50 a.m. EDT, coinciding with morning departures to domestic and global destinations through Delta Air Lines’ network.

“Air service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport consistently ranked as one of Fresno Yosemite International Airport’s Top 10 Markets for Central Valley travelers,” said Director of Aviation Henry Thompson. “We appreciate Delta Air Lines for their confidence in the Fresno market and for meeting the air service needs of our region by growing more destinations and access to the airline’s international network with nonstop service between Fresno and Atlanta.”

Fresno Yosemite International Airport is one of the largest drivers in economic activity in the Central San Joaquin Valley, airport officials noted. Airlines offer Valley travelers daily nonstop flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, Dallas Love Field, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Guadalajara, León, and Morelia in Mexico.
