Fresno truck driver involved in crash that killed senior citizen out of state, troopers say
Neither of the drivers in the collision were wearing seat beats, according to troopers. A truck driver from Fresno, Ankit Khanci, is accused of killing a senior citizen in a crash that occurred two time zones away. The two-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 12 near Louisiana Highway 434 in St. Tammany Parish, 45 miles north of New Orleans. Khanci was driving a 2024 Volvo VNL semitruck, which is a semitruist, and a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 68-year-old man, who was also in the vehicle. The Volvo semitrug struck the rear of the Chevy Silverado and caused the pickup truck to veer off the roadway and hit a large tree. Alton Henry, 68, of Hammond, La, was pronounced dead at the scene. Khani was uninjured, though troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt.

A truck driver from Fresno is accused of killing a senior citizen from a crash that happened two time zones away.
State troopers in Louisiana responded Tuesday morning to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 12 near Louisiana Highway 434 in St. Tammany Parish, roughly 45 miles north of New Orleans.
Troopers said Ankit Khanci, 28, of Fresno was eastbound on Interstate 12 in a 2024 Volvo VNL, which is a semitruck. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 68-year-old man, also was eastbound on Interstate 12 directly in front of the Volvo.
For reasons unknown, the Volvo semitruck struck the rear of the Chevy Silverado and caused the pickup truck to travel off the roadway and hit a large tree.
Alton Henry, 68, of Hammond, La. was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say Henry was not wearing a seat belt.
Khanci wasn’t injured in the collision, though troopers said he, too, was not wearing a seat belt.
Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis.
The crash is under investigation and charges are pending, trooper said.
