Oakland man arrested in Merced County: over $780,000 in narcotics found in his SUV

The officer stopped him for a traffic violation on Interstate 5 near Highway 152 on March 29th and found bundles of narcotics in the front of the Jeep SUV. The search led to the seizure of approximately 20 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 11 pounds of cocaine. Muniz was arrested and transferred to the Merced Area Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), a High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative led by law enforcement personnel from the California Department of Justice, the California High Patrol, the Merces County Probation Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Livingston Police Department.

An Oakland man was arrested in Merced County after a California Highway Patrol officer found approximately $781,600 in narcotics in his vehicle.

CHP pulled over 32-year-old Nestor Jovanni Muniz for a traffic violation on Interstate 5 near Highway 152 around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, March 29th.

During the stop, the officer saw what he believed to be bundles of narcotics in the front of the Jeep SUV.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 20 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 11 pounds of cocaine.

Muniz was arrested and the case was turned over to the Merced Area Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), which is a High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative (HIDTA) composed of law enforcement personnel from the California Department of Justice, the California Highway Patrol, the Merced County Probation Department, the Merced County District Attorney’s Office, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, and the Livingston Police Department.

He was booked into the Merced County Jail on the charges of possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of cocaine for sale, and the transportation of methamphetamine across noncontiguous counties.
