(FOX40.COM) —The pretrial hearings for the case against the suspects in the K Street shooting continued over multiple days this week, on the 2nd anniversary of the crime.

Much of this week’s hearings, including Thursday’s, revolve around one witness, Ike Harris, the cousin of Sergio Harris, one of the deceased men who is suspected of being involved in the April 3, 2022 shooting.

Harris initially invoked his 5th Amendment right to not testify before being granted immunity.

The prosecution and defense questioned Harris on the events surrounding the shooting.

The courtroom heard Harris describe seeing his cousin fall after the shooting broke out; giving him CPR; taking his phone and keys and walking to a nearby park.

Harris said he had never seen two of the three suspects on trial before the night of the shooting.

Lawyers also prodded inconsistencies between Harris’s more current recollection and answers he gave in a recorded police interview in July 2022, including whether he saw one of the other deceased suspects with a gun.

Harris said in 2022 that DeVazia Turner had a gun but in court Tuesday, Harris says he was mistaken.

The three suspects in the trial, Smiley Martin, Dandrae Martin and Mtula Payton, pleaded not guilty last year.

The preliminary hearings are for the judge to determine if there is enough evidence for a trial to begin.
